Starting a nonprofit organization is exciting, but it is like starting a business and that is why this course is taught by applying entrepreneurial concepts. When you decide to launch I want you to be informed and confident that you have all the information you need to make decisions about the service you will provide to your community.

Many people teach "How To Start" but I want to dive in a little deeper, show you what the paperwork is all about, how it will affect you and benefit you and address some of the components of running a nonprofit. This will give you insight on what to do after you "Start" so that you be be sustainable and around to help your community for a long time.

Who should take this course? Nonprofit start-ups, community organizers and those needing an understanding of how nonprofits are organized and how they operate.

Jenai Morehead

Jenai is an entrepreneur and university teacher who specializes in nonprofits and social entrepreneurship. She actively works with and mentors nonprofits on a variety of social ventures. She teaches Entrepreneurship, Nonprofit Management, Fundraising Social Entrepreneurship and Grant-writing.

Jenai has been a volunteer SCORE business mentor for the past eight years and she is the principal consultant at Foundation Consultants. She has over 20 years experience working with nonprofits in the fields of management, fundraising and grant-writing. She is proud to be an alumni of California State University - San Bernardino, where she graduated with a degree in business and entrepreneurship.

When does the course start and finish?
You can enroll in the course anytime. The course is 6 weeks long. It is a completely self-paced online course.
How long do I have access to the course?
This is a six week course. Every week you will have new topics, Powerpoint, audio or video from me, some readings and you will be communicating in our forum.. You have access to the course for one ( 1 ) year across any and all devices you own. During the course time I will be involved with you for the six weeks that you take the course.
What if I am unhappy with the course?
We would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, Contact us in the first 30 days and we will give you a full refund.
Can I ask you questions directly regarding my nonprofit idea?
If you have an idea it is best to start the course first. We all have ideas and they really have to be implemented or tested before you really know if it will work. This course is a good place to test your idea. When Im doing a grant writing project for my clients I always say:"give me something to write about" Donors fund what you are doing, not what you are thinking about. You need to be able to be articulate about things you have done, not about what you are going to do. I recommend Pat Flynn's book, "Will It fly?," while you are taking this course. It's a good guide for testing your ideas.
What if I have a nonprofit and I'd like to ask you a question while I am taking this course?
